Mission

The mission of Aquilli Metzli Masa Coop is to establish a solidarity cooperative that provides local, non-GMO seed to table Masa and other Milpa-grown products (such as canned salsas, root vegetables, wild greens, medicinal herbs, cempasuchil, etc) to the indigenous Latine and ally communities of the North Coast.

By doing this, we aim to provide access to a living wage through the daily re-creation of our culture. Earning a living by practicing the ancestral food sovereignty technology of our culture ensures that the culture not only continues, but thrives. In this way, we build a stable foundation from which to provide supportive, educational, and recreational spaces for our youth.

Through the development and practice of self-determination, we heal the trauma of cultural/food appropriation, displacement, racism, and exploitation resulting from colonization. Stability, community, self-determination, and time are necessary factors in this healing process. We create another option.
